Migration and Refugee Services has offered many services for the newly arrived refugee families and immigrants
without regard to religious or ethnic background since 1975. More than 6,000 refugees
have been resettled in the 12 civil parish area comprising the Diocese of Baton
Rouge. Ethnic groups served include, but are not limited to, Vietnamese, Laotian, Iranians,
Ethiopians, Polish, Cuban, Czech, Afgani, Armenians and Amerasians.
MRS responds to the problems of refugees and immigrants by developing planned/
coordinated services that welcome new-comers to our community.
